Disk Drive green power light blinks 3 times
My computer is a HP Windows Home Vista. I'm trying to install a game disk. I insert the disk and it starts spinning. It will not compelte the process. Nothing comes up on the monitor. It tries for a very short time then the green light blinks three times. It repeats the 3 x's blinking 3 x's then goes out. What does 3 x's-times 3 x's-green light blinking mean. I'm thinking it might be a repair code for a computer repair person. What can I do to get the drive to read the disk? Thank you!

Make sure the disk is clean. Do any other disks read in the drive? Also you could try blowing out the drive with a can of air. Sometimes dust gets on the sensor and it has trouble reading things.

First, go to My Computer (or Computer in Vista) and check if your computer reads the disk (sometimes Vista doesn't autorun). If it doesn't read that disk, but it DOES read others, you may want to check the disk. If it doesn't read any disk, you may have to reinstall device drivers for the CD/DVD drive or reconnect a loose cable internally.

Personally, I dual boot Vista, and I have many problems with CD/DVDs. I'm pretty sure it is the OS itself because I have no problems when I'm booting Win7.
