When I turn the dryer on (80 series kenmore) it runs for about 5 seconds then shuts off. I will do this several times then nothing . I can come back about half hour later and same thing. Any ideas?

Is the dryer in a cold room? We have a Kenmore dryer as well and the room that it is in sometimes gets cold in the winter months and when this happens it will not stay on. Our solution: stand and hold/push the button to turn it on for about 30 sec- 1 min (to warm the dryer up), then take the timer dial and turn it OFF (sometimes we also have to open and shut the door again - maybe like a resetting type of deal there), then take the timer dial again and place it where desired and push the button again. Ours has done this since we bought it but since it doesn't happen too often it doesn't bother us.

No its not in a cold room. This problem just started. The dryer is probely 7 or 8 years old and this has never happened before. Thanks though.
