    Can F1 visa student filing 1040 EZ, claim F2 visa wife as dependent?
    One of my friends has following profile:

    1. In US on F1 since 5+ years and an indian citizen.
    2. Needs to file 1040 EZ because of SPT.
    3. Got married in Dec 2009
    4. Wife came to US on F2 in Jan 2010, does not earn and does not have an ITIN

    Question: Can he file taxes and claim his wife as dependent? Will it benefit it more? What documents will he need?

    For 2009, you can file as married filing jointly or married filing separately.
    With joint return, attach W-7 (ITIN application)
