Hi everyone,

Hope this is the right place to share this, if not, I know one of you kind people will redirect me.

Was up bright and early this morn and out the door at 6:00 am to do the weekly grocery shopping. As I was checking out the groceries, I looked over to the customer service counter, and there was this lady, with one of those white canes. She was blind and all alone. She was tapping on the customer service counter asking if one of the store personnel could help her shop. My heart just dropped. I thought how sad is that. I actually said this to the guy checking my groceries out. He said she comes in here every now and then and one of the store personnel helps her shop. He said he couldn't understand why the person who dropped her off doesn't help her. Anyway, as I was leaving, outside was the handicap bus that dropped her off waiting for her to finish her shopping.

I felt so sad for her and it made me stop in my tracks and think, If I ever complain or get upset about things, I give full permission to the closest person to me, to give me a good swift kick.

I guess the reason I share this with all of you, is that, I know myself, I tend to take
The most precious things for granted, and bellyache about the smallest of things. This is not in any way attempting to downplay anyone's difficulties, but I know seeing this today made me so much more aware of the blessings I do have.

Oh, and I consider this site a blessing, as well as all of you. Your words of wisdom and kindness have helped me greatly.

Oh You are so right excon... and that thought was on my mind... that's why I questioned the check-out guy. The next thing I knew one of the employees was by her side, with cart in tow, ready and very willing to escort her through the store. Sorry, left that out. But, yes, you are so right.

Hopefully, by the time the Holiday season fully arrives, a story will warm the cockels of your heart... but first... you have to figure out what they are :):).

Hey, maybe we could start a little pay-it-forward movement right here by looking for folks to help while shopping and well, helping a little more here and there. I know the few obvious times I have (short person not reaching it, old person struggling)... it was a nice little feeling to help them. Nothing too overboard, just see what comes along. So maybe I will shop a little slower from now on! LOL

That's me. Lol I'm forever asking someone to reach something for me. I have never met an unhelpful person in the supermarket yet. Truth is though I don't like shopping and I'm in and out of there like a whirl wind. Think it might be time to pass it on... Shop slower... And just hope everything they want help with is on the bottom shelf. Lol

Sounds like a great plan there Val.

And Bluerose, we would make a great team... you can get the items on the lower shelf, and being that My Father, gave me his height, I can happily get those items at the top.

LOL I like teamwork too. You girls both made me laugh. :p

I'll tell you what, Bluerose, you look for cranky kids stuck in that shopping cart seat and distract them from pulling all the boxes off the shelves while mother isn't looking -- you look to me like the sort who would be REALLY good at that too! :)

And Val, 3 is never a crowd... soooo since this was your wonderful plan, you too, must have a role... perhaps you could keep the "litte darlings" occupied, with your wonderful words of wisdom and try and convince "little Johnny"... noooo it is not amusing... nor beneifical to anyone, to open up the cereal boxes and dump them all over the floor... give them the Val... "tut ...tut...tut".
