    I have been coughing up phelgm
    I have been coughing up phelgm really bad lately. I haven't been sick or anything.I do smoke. And I'm only 23yrs old could that mean something bad?someone please let me know?the phelgm is white,thick and it kind of reminds you of jello... thats the best way I can explain it.. please HELP me Thank You

    You have some sort of infection in your lungs. Please consult with a doctor if this persists as it could be worse than you think. Someone as young as you smoking should not have such nasty phlem problems!

    I vote for allergies. I've been having the same stuff for the past week. Started one day as a large amount of clear phlegm, then got worse. Getting slightly better each day.

    Allergies seem likely this time of year. But like the others said, best to see the dr. suddenly everyone at my work seems to have infections that cause them to cough a lot. Could be something going around in your area too.

    You have moderate tree pollen in your are now. Pollen Count for Chesnee, SC - weather.com That's going to be the most active this time of year.

    I'm allergic to Oak and Birch and there is an Oak tree in the back yard. When it's really active, I pick up garbage bags full of pollen.

    So, this time of year the suspect is tree pollen.

    If it were late August to the first frost, then I'd suspect Ragweed.
