My boyfriend has been taking care of his mother with ms and is ristricting him to not being able to get a job because he is her main care taker. They filled a form and got denied because his father "makes to much'' when really because of this government screwing him over he really doesn't. She can't walk, can't even lift her arms past her head, she can't wipe her own butt or shower by herself. I don't get how she doesn't qualify for anything. This family needs Help!!

What forms did your boyfriend and his mother fill out, for what agency or company?

I don't understand why he really doesn't make too much money to qualify - is there an error in the paperwork?

I have a neighbor with MS and she receives assistance through the local MS Association which helped her with paperwork, medical forms, personal interviews, which made the assistance possible.

Where else has his family looked for help?

If you are asking if your boyfriend can be paid for taking care of his mother, no, he can't under any program I am aware of. It's the same with a husband/wife - it's part of what you do when a loved one is sick.

Does your boyfriend never get a break? What about schooling?

EDIT: I've decided to be perfectly blunt. His mother has a progressive, incurable disease and cannot care for herself. Yes, he has to care for her 24 hours a day, apparently 7 days a week. (I have no idea where his father is.)

Does he realize how much his mother gave up for HIM when he was an infant, a baby, growing up? Maybe she got sick of wiping his butt, too.

You should both grow up.

He may get a paid care giver to come in though an agency if the parents insurance covers it.

Check with your county's Social Services. In some states, as here in North Dakota, there is a care program called, "Family Care Program/Plan." The family member who provides the full time care needs to go through the process of being certified by the state as a Qualified Service Provider, have a home inspection, provide menus, etc. It is not an easy process but done to weed out imposters or freeloading family members.

There is no such program in NY, for example so I find the N/S Dakota sites to be very informative and worth posting.
