I don't know how they do things in Qatar, but if it were me, on a real job, and I got a post-dated check, I would put it aside and pretend I never got it. If it's post-dated it has no worth to you until that date comes.
The person doesn't owe it to you any longer, meaning you wouldn't go sending them a statement for it or anything like that, but in terms of your books, it doesn't exist.
yes, so much is different between accounting school and real life at times.
In the US, there really is no treatment for post dated checks since there is not suppose to be any. In fact most banks would even run a posted dated check though if presented.
If a company has a policy to accept them, they have no value till the date on the check, and in fact don't exist for value till the date on the check
