Can I file NY taxes as married if married in a foreign country?
I am a US citizen. Last year I got married to a Pakistani citizen in Pakistan. I live in New York City and my wife is still in Pakistan in the process of applying for a marriage visa. She has never lived here with me. Should I file my NY taxes as married or single?

If you are legally married, then you must file as married. Since she has not been to NY you would file as Married Filing Separately.
