Moving in the middle of orthodontic treatment-how do you get some of your$ refunded
Moving during beginning stages of orthodontic treatment (4 months). Son has 4 partial braces on top teeth and plan outlined is to get full upper and lower when baby teeth come out. We have paid for treatment plan in full and now finding out we will have to move out of state soon! Ortho doesn't seem to keen on giving any money back even though not much treatment has been done at this point. Do I turn to local medical board? Not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Hello:

Sue him in small claims court. It's cheap, quick and easy.

Actually, if you write a letter to the orthodontist with copies of the receipts showing what you have paid and dates that your son has been seen by him, explain to him that unfortunately you will be relocating and IF you had known that this was a possibility before treatment started you would have held off until you got situated in your new location.

Make copies, send one to the orthodonist, one to the referring dentist, one to the state dental association and one to the state dental licensing board (if there is one).

Be sure to show you Cc.'d and ideally, send the one to the orthodontist, state dental association and licensing board registered mail.

I'm sure he will give you your money back. He should never have expected you to pay in full especially if he isn't going to be proceeding immediately with full ortho.
