We have standing water in our sewer vents level with the roof line. We are not having issues with drainage, however the tub and toilet will gurgle when I wash a load of clothes and it drains. Should these lines be clear or is it normal to have water in them.

The only time you should see water in the vents and stacks is when we fill them for inspection. Something's very wrong here. What forced the water up past the roof and why hasn't it flooded your home as it drained out the traps and toilets?
Is this a new home? Are all the vents full of water or just one one or two? When the house was built was it roughed in for a extra bath?
Please keep me in the loop on this. This is the kind of complaint that I like to see come my way. Ya don't see this every day! Regards, Tom

The home was built in 2001. We have not had any issues at all with drainage. No flooding. The only problems we have is when the water drains from the washer it will gurgle in the nearby bathroom and you cannot flush the toilet when the washer is draining. I was told that the vent may be clogged therefore my husband went up today to run a snake down. He noticed that both vents were full of water and we were curios if they should be clear. What can we do to get rid of the water?

Don't try anything yourself until you know what's going on.
The water in the stacks will have to be drained back into the sewer but if you're not careful you could flood your home. I have a hunch these may be capped off vents for future remodeling that simply filled with rain water but that's only a guess. Call in a plumber to figure things out before you make a move and keep me informed. Tom
