Lived in SC for a month in 2009 and for the rest of the year I lived in Lousiana.
So is it that I file Part Year resident for both these states?
I also withdrew my 401k from SC. Should I mention it in my Lousiana State return?
Thanks in advance

Yes - you were a part-year resident of LA as well as SC, so you file part-year resident returns with both states.
You say you "withdrew my 401k from SC" - do you mean you made a withdrawal from your 401(k) during that first month when you were a resident of SC? If so, then on the LA return it will be included in your federal adjusted gross income (line 7 of IT-540B), but you do not show it as part of your LA income (line 8).
Thanks for the reply. Yes the
401K was taken out in SC in Jan.
Do you get a credit for the taxes
You pay in SC on your Lousiana State return or is that only for NON RESIDENTS?
Are you talking about the credit for taxes paid to other jurisdictions? If so, that only applies to taxes you may have paid to another state while a resident of LA, so that doesn't apply to you.
Thank you :-)
