I have a 50 amp 220 v gfi hooked up to my hot tub, I ran a 110 v 10 amp gfi off one leg for the underwater light just for extra safety, is this safe to do? I have heard on TV that you can not run 1 gfi off another. Or is this just pertaining ti wall outlets?

Unless the hot tub is listed to be wired in the manner you describe, then what you did is a violation of the manufacturer's installation instructions and therefore a Code violation.

Generally speaking, hot tubs and their associated equipment are already configured at the factory to be run from a single branch circuit conductor termination point.

Altering the internal wiring past that conductor termination point as you have done will not only void any warranties, it can be quite dangerous.

As for the GFCI question, the answer is that you should not run multiple GFCIs in a series under any circumstance.

What you did was completely unnecessary, and I question how it was done. Something does not sound right to me.

This is not actually true. There is nothing wrong with this other than redundancy.
