It the job is temporary that is it is expected to last for less than a year, you can claim travel expenses that include travel, lodging and meals. Use Form 2106 or 2106-EZ to figure your allowable expenses that you claim on A (Form 1040). Your U.S. Tax Return: Itemized Deductions

Little tricky here. I took the job originally with intent to stay a year or more, but it was pretty clear after I got there that it may not last a year. Your thoughts on the 2106?

I would claim the expenses on Form 2106 if you have not yet filed. If, after the first tax filing, you still have the job, discontinue claiming the expenses.
