    My wife says because we listed our house to be sold by a realitor that we are obligated to purchase a home from the same realitor I say we can buy one from any one we want am I right or wrong? Thank you

    Hello Howard:

    In that this is the LAW forum, my answer conforms with LAW. You are NOT obligated to use that agent.

    However, good business sense and common courtesy would have you use the agent IF she/he performed for you.

    No, unless you hired them also as a buyers agent to work for you, or signed a contract with them for them to find you a home.

    A selling agent is just that, a listing agent, they make money when they ( if they do) sell your home.

    If you like them, use them to find a home, if it is in the same area. Most agents know one area better than others,

    I may be working with 4 or 5 agents at a time to find me a home, they know this, makes them work harder
