I reside in PA & Maryland Court awarded me judgment. I am now preparing for an oral examination in Maryland court. What questions do I ask?

Why do an oral exam when you can do this on paper instead? What happens if the party is a no show?

Judgment debtor exams can be fun. Ask questions like this:

• "Do you have any bank accounts?"
  
  "Which bank, branch, account number, balance, etc".
  
  "Do you, have any interest in real property (land, houses, condos, mineral rights, etc.; anything of that nature)"
  
  "Have you ever owned an interest in real property such as I was asking you? If so, what happened to it?"
  
  "Do you own any boat, automobile, firearm, jewelry, [etc.]. [If so], tell me all the details: what kind, were is it, does anbody else have any claim to or interst in it? Tell me the details." Blah. blah. blah.
  
  "Has anyone died, leaving you an inheritance"
  

Be creative.

And remember, what you want is the details. Whether you can get the assets you can figure out later. Right now you want to find where they are.

And the one a senior attorney I worked for once told me to always ask: "Empty your pockets, please."

Because, as I tried to illustrate above, your later questions will be prompted by answers to questions you ask previously. Do it in writing and you miss the opportunity for follow-up questions.

The same thing you would do if the party fails to answer written questions: get a court of order he/she will violate at the risk of contempt of court.
