Garbage disposal in sink smells... What can I do?
Here's what I do:
- Make sure you don't skimp on the water
Run lots of water while the disposal is running, and continue for several seconds after you turn it off- About once a month, drop a dozen ice cubes in the running disposal
I do them a couple at a time. Sometimes I dump a glass or two of ice water in.- If the above two steps fail to solve the problem, grind up a lemon
Cut the lemon into quarters and drop the pieces into the running disposal
This does the trick for me. Hopefully for you too.

I agree with Wally. It smells because you are not flushing food down the drain with lots of water. As Wally said, use lots of hot water after each use to carry grease as far down the drain as possible. What smells is decaying left-over food and bacteria that grows on the interior of garbage disposer. As far as getting rid of the smell - you can also use vinegar and baking soda. Make it a point to use it periodically to prevent build up.
