The heater will turn on and you can hear it fire up but the blower will not kick on

Need much more information to be sure. Do you have a fan switch on your thermostat? There is a switch which turns on the fan when the plenum temperature reaches a pre-set temperature. If this switch fails the situation you describe could occur. Can you turn on the fan manually?
