    Kinship care
Ok here goes I am a kinship guardian of my cousins child I have had him for 4 months the bio parents still have visitation they see him once a week for an hour.He was in foster care for 16mths before he came to live with me.My question is what chance do I have of getting full custody if I take the parents to court they have said themselves that they are unable to take care of him but still wants visits? If anyone has any info on this please let me know or any info at all pertaining to kinship..

Generally the courts are reluctant to give permanent custody rights to third parties unless the parents are danger to the child.

I already have permanent custody of the child since the first of march .The bio parents didn't even care enough to show up to court. My question was how hard would it be to get full custody /adoption we don't want them to have visits. The social worker said that as soon as she comes for last home visit that the social services will no longer be involved that it is up to us what steps we take now.
Has anyone on here been in this situation?what steps did u take to get full custody..

Is there a difference between "permanent custody" and "full custody"?

    What state are you in?
