I was convicted and did my probation of 5 yrs while paying monthly restitution, at which I stopped paying at end of prob. I am an unemployed stay at home mom, my probation ended in 2003 but got a letter from Federal Lit. unit that grabbed our tax refund Am I still liable for this or is it out of their hands? What do I do?

1. I am surprised you got off probation and still owed the restitution

2. assuming you did get off probation owing this ( happens sometimes in some places) it then becomes a civil debt that you owe, The person you owe it to, can go to court for garnishment of pay, attach bank accounts and get the governmetn to grab your tax refund.
