How to report non-employee compensation by an international student
    Hello,

I am an international student. I worked part-time in my school campus and got a W-2 for that. Along with this, I did a paid internship at a non-profit organization. They sent me a 1099 MISC form and listed that amount as non-employee compensation. Please let me know what forms do I need to use to file taxes for this year. Your response is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1099-misc (nonemployee compensation) income: You will report your income and business related expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). Then you put net income (or loss) on line 13 of 1040NR. In your case this income is not subject to SE tax (SS tax and Medicare tax) at 15.3%.
