Wiring two old knob-and-tube bathrooms from scratch and want to comply with NEC 2008. Figure I can do following and still stay within code - if wrong, please correct me:
> Using 12/2G throughout.
> From a STANDARD 20A breaker run HR to Jbox.
> From Jbox run separate power leads to first receptacle in each bath.
> First receptacle in each bath is a GFI receptacle.
> From first GFI receptacle, run power to switch for lights and other receptacle in bath.

Its been awhile, how are you?

While your plan is workable, you might want to consider putting each bathroom on its own 20 amp circuit breaker.

Also, put the lights on a separate circuit. This way if the breaker opens, you are not standing there in the dark.

Thanks Don - has been a while and I hope all is well with you. Think I will put each on their own circuit in case I have two gals concurrently running hair dryers, curling irons and a space heater!

With two bathrooms, you have two choices, per Code.

#1, run one 20 amp circuit for receptacles only in each bathroom. Then install a 15 or 20 amp circuit for lights and fans in both bathrooms.

#2, install two 20 amp circuits, one for each bathroom receptacle, fan, and lights.
