    Retrieving Lost Data
A Possible Question That Has Been Asked a 1000 Times?

Hi, so a few years ago - I brought a Maxtor DiamondMax, formatted,
Partitioned and selected as a Primary Slave Drive - for a Dell Dimension
    Desktop.

Question being, to avoid spending 2000:-SEK [or equivolent to 250 Euros]
How can I retrieve Data from this HDD?

*Current Desktop does not 'Register' the Hard Drives connection*

[Kudos to those who can Answer] Thank you

What OS are you using? Also another way would be to buy an external case and run it that way.

The way I'm understanding your question is that you bought and successfully used a hard drive several years ago which has since been moved to another system that doesn't recognize (register?) it. If this is correct, here are some possibilities resulting in the situation described:
    1. Drive is bad.
    2. Drive is incorrectly installed - jumper configuration does not match its physical installation, etc.
    3. The controller the drive is connected to is not enabled in the BIOS or configured correctly.
    4. The BIOS settings for the drive are incorrect.
    5. Drive letters for the partitions on the drive need to be assigned within Windows disk management (or other O/S) so they are usable in Windows Explorer.

When the computer or drive is powered on, can you hear or feel it spin up?
