    Paternal grandparents rights after adoption
I am in the process of adopting my grandchild which whom the father is in jail and the mother has chosen to go with the adoption due to issues with DCF. Now the paternal grandparents got involved with visits once a month with the baby and want to fight for more after the adoption. The father of the baby phisically hurt my granddaughter and now serving time for that. DO the paternal grandparents have rights to the baby once the adoption goes through

Moraly yes. But legaly no. They could apply for visitation and try to force the adoption to become "open". But in most cases it would end with the adoption. Is there some reason you don't want them to see the child?

    Morally-yes. Legally-maybe.
A court may award visitation rights if an action is pending where there is an issue involving the custody of a minor child, divorce of the child's parents, termination of a parent's rights, or visitation rights. Adoption cuts off the visitation rights of the grandparents unless the adoption is granted to a stepparent or a natural relative of the child.
