    California inheritance law
    Hello,
My brother lives in California and has become an American citizen. Our parents were Canadian. Will my brother have to pay any type of inheritance tax or fee for his share of his inheritance because the monies orginated from the sale of my parents home in Canada?

    Thank you

There is no inheritance tax in Canada but there is a Capital Gains Tax, which may apply only to Canadian citizens (who file Canadian income tax). It is a conveluted question and I think he would be more comfortable inquiring of his tax man in the US, who can research that for him.
