Troubleshooting a Rheem manufactured home water heater
I have a Rheem Model #71-305 electric water heater (240 volts ac only). I am trying to figure out if I need to replace the breaker switch that keeps tripping or is it a part on the water heater itself? I have had hot water and everything should be working right, no problems with water quality, but the breaker keeps tripping, and now it is making a scratchy sound every time l turn the breaker switch back on. If I do have to replace the breaker, would a 30 amp switch work, or do I have to use exactly the 25 amp switch that is already there?

AHASS- #1= you want to use a double 30 amp breaker ;from what you are saying ,I would say that it is the breaker it self that keeps triping, they do wear out. Try the breaker first then if that bis not it come back on thios post and I can lead you threw the steps to check the thermostatsand the heating elements; to do that you will have to have a {VOLT-OHM meter], you could get one at Lowe's OR HOME DEPOT in the electrical dept for less then $15.00; it needs to be one that you can check 220 volts with
have a great day and GOD BLESS::F.B.E.
