Downloading music and movies -computer won't allow
    G'day,

Have just started usinf internet this week. Have never downloaded music or movies before but would like to!

Problem is, every time I go into a site and click onto FREE DOWNLOAD.
An error message pops up "YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS DO NOT ALLOW THIS FILE TO BE DOWNLOADED".

    NOT HAPPY AT All.

    Have gone into TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>SECURITY>INTERNET>CUSTOM LEVEL>DOWNLOADS [SECTION]

Have allowed [ENABLED] AUTOMATIC PROMPTING FOR DOWNLOADS ETC.

The computer still doesn't like it.

    I'm currenlty working on VISTA.

Thanks for anyone's help. Much appreciated.

It's good that your computer isn't allowing this to happen. You'll get a virus very quickly doing what you're trying to do. You can't go around the Internet randomly clicking on things that say "Free". Everything comes at a price, and at the very least most of that stuff has spyware which will bog your computer down very quickly.

Most places do not allow downloading music and such for free, as this violates copyright laws. If you want to listen to music, I recommend checking out Pandora Internet Radio which builds a radio station based on your "thumbs up" or "Thumbs down" ratings of various songs. For free they allow you to listen to 40 hours a month.

Otherwise to download songs, check out Napster, iTunes, or Rhapsody. These services generally charge approximately $1 USD per song and have deals for the entire album.
