My computor is kind of slow so a multiplayer game that I have to download is out of the question for me the game I want is a fast pace game because I only have a few hours a day for games/runescape takes too long the have true fun,the game you decide to pick doesn't have to be ancient based like runescape but it has to be fast paced.thank you. . If a board-game works you can try Dungons & Dragons. It is kind of geeky but so is Runescape. If you get a faster computer there is an online version. It is fast paced and you can create your own character. It is probably where Runscape got it's idea. It has conventions every so often and they have pre-made characters in the box it comes in too.

One draw-back though You need multiple people. (But if friends weren't for D&D would geeks like me even have friends?)

Sad thing is it ain't free. But, you only need to pay once and it is worth the money.
