Big crack in the my bathroom shower's grout
    Hello,

I noticed a small crack in the corner where the two walls of the tiles meet, and thought it would be good to seal these cracks up with a silicone sealant. I initially thought this material was caulk, but now I'm not too sure, as it feels like it was part of the original grout used to attach the tiles to the wall.

I was told by a rep at home-depot that all existing caulk must be removed before I can apply my silicone sealant. I proceeded to chisel at the corner grout, and now I have a 1/2'' gap at the corner!

Is there some sort of material I can use to fill this gap? I still want to be able to apply my silicone protectant over it.

    Thanks for any help.

You have tow issues here: that is grout and should not be and also the gap was made to big due to probably a DIYer project gone wild. Grout is not used down at the bottom line of the tile but it should also be avoided in corners if the corner is part of an interior wall. Corners that crack do so because there is a tiny bit of movement in one of the walls, should be caulk. Try Daps Kwik Seal Plus, it will not need additional sealing and comes with a mildewcide built right in. DAP Products - Caulks, Sealants, Adhesives, Repair and Floor Covering

    Thanks for the quick response.

So I should not apply the silicone in this corner wall? And use only Daps Kwik Seal?

Should I remove all the remaining grout in this corner wall? Or just try to seal up the crack as is?

    What is a "tow issue"?

Remove all the grout in that cracked corner. Use only the Dap. Sorry for the typo, two issues. My bad
