trying to get a basic understanding of linear functions
Basically, I have values for f(x) in one column and "x" in the second column.
I have tried to place them in the following formula:

    f(x)= mx + b

    example

    if f(x) = 0 and x= -3

    so I wrote the following: 0 = m(-3) + b.

I don't have any idea if I am on the right track at all. Am I done with the problem or do I need to solve it further?

Any help that anyone can give me is really appreciated. Thank you.

Easiest way is to graph and find the slope (rise/run) and y intercept.

You could also use the two point form of a linear equation and then find the slope intercept form and then verify that all of the points satisfy the equation.
