    I live in California, ordered on line 2 cell phone units as upgrade of the ones we had. When they arrived, the sales tax was based on original price of $ 559.99 instead of the sale price of $299.99. Is this right?

    Sales tx is based on the price you are paying. If it is on sale, then that is what the tax is based on.
