    Tennis courts and dirt
I purchased a home that had an existing tennis court made from black top with a concrete perimeter. The court was poured on top of a lime base about 4" deep. The court is now in total disrepair and estimates to demo and haul off are 5-10K. I am now considering having top soil dumped on top of the court, and sodding over it. Has anyone ever tried this? Thoughts on why it wouldn't work if the grade is feathered? Thanks, Ellen in Dallas

That would work very well although I can think of two possible drawbacks. In hot dry weather, that area will turn brown quicker because the roots can't grow as deep as the rest of the yard. Also if you ever need to dig in that area, it will be much more difficult.

I was going to say, this should work but you'll obviously have a real tough time growing grass or digging in that area in the future. Is demo really going to cost that much? Man, that's rough! When we got our tennis court removed years ago I think we only paid a few grand.
