The plumbing backed up and we had to have out plumbing snaked. THe carpets got wet and now there is a smell in the house. What should I do. Replace the carpet or have it cleaned. I have 2 kids and I do not want any of us getting sick.

    Hi, Rebeccax2!

I'm assuming that you own your home. Is that correct?

If so, then do you have homeowner's insurance?

    Thanks!

Similar thing happened to me once. If you think the carpet is salvageable and you want to keep it you can pull it up, mop the floor under it with a bleach solution, dry the floor completely with a large fan(s), replace the padding underneath with new padding, and reattach and clean the carpet. This worked fine for us.
