This could go either way. Your older dog could very well be immune to the Parvo virus at his age due to receiving the shots while he was younger.

However, if he has a compromised immune system due to his age, he may get the virus. Adult parvo is much harder to kill than puppy parvo.

Parvo stays alive in the soil for up to 5 years I believe. So the chances of you getting another puppy are out of the question. Disinfecting the yard are good precautions, but its not a 100% guarantee that neither your older dog, or a new puppy will get the parvo virus later in the year.

You should talk to your vet. They may have better solutions for your older dog other than giving h I'm an annual booster.

Its rare for adults to get Parvo, but because of your dogs age, this virus can be tricky.

As for burring the puppy in your back yard, I wouldn't. If he died from parvo, the virus is still in the body. The virus can seep out of the body and contaminate your backyard. You should dispose of the body propery -- i.e. cremation.
