What are squatters rights in terms of apartment rental if one wasn't on the leas
My father paid for 6 months of rent in Nov and passed in December in the State of Texas. His female friend which was living with him was not on the lease agreement, but we have allowed her to stay out of pity. She has a home in another county, but her son is staying in the home and she did not want to impose on him. We told her in early Feb we were going to start moving his possessions out of the apartment. Three weeks later, we have moved out my fathers possessions and had the apartment complex close the apartment. She also has moved out but is now claimimg squatters rights

    Hello l:

There are no squatters rights. However, the rent was PAID through April, and she was a paid tenant throughout the lease period. She could sue the apartment complex and you too for unlawful eviction. I'll bet she'll change her lawsuit to that before this is over, and you're going to lose.

Rent was PAID. She WAS a legal tenant. You and the complex illegally evicted her.
