    Yes, 20A and #12 may be used for lights. 15A breaker and #12 may be used for lights.


    A 20 A outlet has 1 prong that's shaped like a "T". It allows both 20 A plugs and 15 A plugs to be plugged in.

    #12 MAY be used with a 20 A breaker and either 15 or 20 A outlets (mix or match).

    #12 MUST be used with 20 A outlets.

    20 A outlets, wire and breakers are a little more expensive

    If wired with #12, a 15A breaker or a 20 A breaker can be used.
    If a 15 A breaker is used, no 20 A outlets are permitted.


    #14 MUST be protected with a 15A breaker and 15 A outlets MUST be used. No 20 A outlets are permitted.
