My briggs stratton 12.5 hp vangard ohv engine strips the 16 tooth starter gear.
I replaced the 499521 starter.
It lasted two weeks and the gear failed.
Any help will be appreciated

Check and see if the starter drive will wobble ,if so this could be letting the gear hang up.
Make sure the spring is strong enough to push it down,
