Are you aware of ministers emigrating to the USA?
I just read an article which said that about 300 Catholic priest are coming into the USA from other
Counties to serve here and why they are.
To me that is great news for here in Montana we have a shortage of priest in our growing state.
Do you know if the same is happening in your denomination?
As far as I'm concerned the more the better because of the wide spread secularization that has been going on here.
We need all the spiritual help we can get.
    :)Peace and kindness,:)

NO, we are sending hundreds of missionaries to other countries. In fact my denomination is far larger around the world than in the US.
Just curious what reason are they giving for having to import priests?

    450donn,
    They are not being imported.
They are coming on their own probably for the same reasons others come here.

So Fred it appears that some think the US needs evangelisation. The US has contributed many missionaries to the world, it is time they got some back.

    paraclete ,
That could be, but I think that many of the ministers who come here are for better living wages and to send some money home to their poor counties.

Then Fred this represents a brain drain on their own countries to say nothing of the consequences of ministry which we have all learned is far better accomplished by nationals than outsiders. I think it is sad if ministers are migrating for money, after all you cannot serve God and money

    450donn,
Some priests and ministers of other denominations who may be coming do. Most do not.
Some monks take a vow of poverty, some of silence, etc.
It's a wide, wild, wonderful, mysterious religious world out there.

Obviously we are not discussing monks, but RC priests who are being shipped to the US for what reason? Is it money? Or is it because the RCC cannot get enough people to take the vows to keep all of the churches open? In other words, is there not enough people coming into the RCC priesthood? I am just trying to understand why this is happening.

    parttime ,
    Thanks much for that.
I still wonder, though. If other denominations are experiencing an influx of ministers from abroad.

    450donn,
So am I tryi9ng to understand it.
I think the issue is complex with many reasons.
Yes, in some areas of the USA there is a shortage of priests such as in my Montana where the growing Church needs more priests.
But I think that some are coming from abroad for financial reasons to be able to send some funds back to the very poor counties.
I know that Mexico is poor, but the very much growing Church there needs all the priests is has plus more so we get very few, if any, from Mexico.
    Peace and kindness,
    Fred
