Writing a letter to dismiss charges
My son is in prison due to drug related theft. He has a warrant for his arrest in another county in Illinois for not paying his court fine. He wants to write a letter to that county courthouse to ask that the charges be dropped since he is in prison.

    Hello mom:

He should write a plainly stated letter like you just did. However, asking them to forgo his fine simply because he's in jail isn't a good argument, and I doubt it'll work.

He was told he has to go to the law library in prison to get help on writing the letter but he hasn't been cleared to go there yet. I will tell him what you said about jail not being a good argument for dismissing the case. Thanks.
