I have a Rheem Classic heating and air-split system. The system is no more than two years old. I have a tremendious amount of soot coming from the unit. It has my electrical face plates and base boards covered with a black carbon substance. Can you tell me why and what I can do to prevent this.

If you feel that carbon is from the furnace you better be calling a on site repair person right away. The unit will have to be checked over on site before anything will be known.

I feel that our fan is running but won't stop. The heat pump outside is making a sound, only the fan in the unit. What is that
