Car died while driving oil dip stick was smoking
My car died while driving, I had traveled about 300 miles before this happened. My car will restart, but died a few seconds later. There is a clunking sound. I pulled the oil dip stick out and it was smoking hot. The radiator seemed to be OK. What could the problem be?

Is there any oil at all in the crankcase? If not, that is definitely your problem. Your engine may have seized up by now if you have kept starting it up and it kept stalling.

If it was smoking from the oil dip stick then chances are very good that your engine seized up due to acute lack of engine oil.

The clunking sound is probably your cylinders banging around.

Do not attempt to start this car. Have it towed to the nearest repair facility.
