I have to warm my 2001 Honda Accord up at least 20 min before it will shift in cold weather. Then once I get it rolling it is hard to go to 2nd gear when it finally does my green D4 light starts flashing until I pull over aand restart the car. Then the same thing happens for the 3rd gear. Once I do this for each gear I can continue on until my car gets super hot. Then we go with the jerking into gear. Unless I can ease it to the next one. Once I am coming to a red light if I don't make a complete stop and let 1st gear kick in it jerks into gear. I was told it is electrical sylinoid switches. If so please elaborate

Try changing your transmission fluid, using either Mobil 1 Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF or Amsoil Universal Synthetic ATF. Transmissions simply perform better with synthetics--both up shifts and down shifts. The solenoids may be hanging up, due to varnish. Synthetics will safely start to clean things up. If you have abused the car, from a maintenance point of view, then you are likely looking at a rebuild.
