International Student Unpaid Debt
I am a south american citizen who studied in the United States from 1995 to 1999. During those years I got a Credit Card from a major bank. When I graduated I couldn't pay what I owed (US$ 2,000) and left the States returning to my home country with the goal of some day paying my debt. After a few years I called the bank in the States who issued my credit card, and they told me the debt was bought by a collection agency. After that I called the collection agency and told them where I was located, gave them my address, phone number and other information they needed; I always wanted to pay this debt. For a whole year they called me almost twice a month telling me I owed like US$ 3,000 (the original amount plkus interests) , but like a year ago they stopped calling. Why do you think they stopped calling? I want to pay this debt sometime, maybe thorugh a payment plan. Also, can I be allowed to enter the U.S. as a tourist? Or is somebody going to arrest me at the airport and make me pay what I owe? Thanks for the help.
