How do I get rid of the protein in my urine. I have just had a microalbumin test and the result show 36mg/g is this considered high

Your doctor probably ordered this test because he suspected kidney damage or diabetes. It is a standard test to detect just where the protein in you rbody is being directed, and if found in your urine, then it signifies your kidneys are not working properly.

Healthy kidneys redirect protein back into your body where it is needed, kidney malfunction directs it into you bladder to be eliminated in your urine.

Your can't reduce the protein in your urine if your kidney's are malfunctioning.

edit: The question here should be what your doctor diagnosed after this test, which was probably included with other bloodwork to give a good picture. Did he diagnose you with diabetes, or are you already a diabetic ? I would suggest you ask your doctor some pertinent questions so you can be informed about your health status.

36mg/g is on the high side. Diabetes is not the only cause of this, but hypertension is as well.

I am left wondering, also, if you fit into any of the high risk categories: American Indians, Hispanic Americans, Pacific Islander Americans, and overweight people.

Thank you for your answer, I am hypertensive however my BP ia always control at 120/80. Recently I was put on Cardiprin and Plevix by my cardiologists could asprin be the course of my elevated microalbumin. I am asian chinese weight 100kg and 6 ft high.

Hypetension is a cause of kidney disease as well, not only diabetes, but I don't think an 80mg aspirin for blood thinning would increase the protein in your urine (nothing I have read pending this post indicates that is so). A mild aspirin for blood thinning is a good accompniment for blood pressure medication. Healthy kidneys are meant to disburse protein to other parts of your body to be utilized, when kidneys become compromised their ability to do this decreases and then most of the protein is released into your bladder for your body to eliminate it. That is why you have increased level of protein in your urine.

A common blood test to determine kidney function is a BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) test.

You must go back to your doctor and discuss this issue with him.
