I have a 2002 polaris xc 500 that prone to over heating.on new snow its fine but on a packed trail the heat lite comes on if I'm putting a long at 15-25 miles per hr.but know else's does.although if I'm going much faster it won't.its liquid cooled and so are the others sleds.has any one else had this problem with this yr. and make.is there a fix or is there a way to tell if a problem with the light.

I'm not really familiar with snowmobiles, but my common sense says to focus on the cooling system. I presume they are cooled, just like cars and trucks, with a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water. Check the radiator for corrosion and/or phosphate scale, which may be blocking the passages. The system may need flushing and the radiator replaced. Refill with a 50/50 mixture of recommended antifreeze and distilled water. The distilled water is key--it prevents minerals in the water from forming scale deposits. See if this makes sense to you.

Thanks for your input, but they don't have radiators they have aluminum extrusions or heat sinks in the tunnel (some sleds have them on the running boards) that the antifreeze flows through and the track is supposed to kick up the snow and cool them off.the position of mine is different spot than other sleds.and I could'nt get a straight answer from the dealer as to why and or if it was a design flaw.he has since gone out of business.the antifreeze is always full, the one time I capped it off I used premixed form a sled shop.

Have you been able to find anyone else online with the same make & model, with the same problem?
