I am currently residing in the US on an F-2 status since last 1 year. I have applied in a university here and their reply is still awaited. I am going to India in the month of May-2010. The university suggested me to apply for my change of visa status from India. Is it a better option to apply for my change of status from India or by staying in the US? If my visa gets rejected from India, can I come back to US on my F-2 status? Or do I need to reapply? What all documents are required to apply from India?

If you get I-20 before leaving, it's recommended to apply for F-1 from India.
