My furnace shuts off about twice a day. I have to physically shut the furnace off via the switch on the side of the unit, wait about ten seconds and then switch it back on. The furnace works fine for about 7-8 hours and then does it again.

You might try cleaning the flame sensor on your no brand no model number furnace. Do a search on this site since it has been posted many times.
