I just bought this refergerator. I am interested to know can the small freezer part be taken out of this unit and have the unit continue to work. I have no need of the freezer and would like the extra clearance it would give me.

I doubt it. I have one of those small refrigerators. Small refrigerators work like the old fashoned refrigerators. The "freezer" cools the whole fridge. The shelf itself IS the evaporator. If you remove it, you will just have a box, but it won't be cool.

Not to mention, I would almost guess you would have to break or saw it out somewhow, leaking the refrigerant everywere, making a big illegal mess.
