Need help with my chemistry homework please help!!
Assume that if iodine is allowed to migrate freely between equal volumes of water and kerosene, 90% of it will end up in the kerosene and 10% in the water. If you started with 1.0g of iodine total in the water layer, and extraceted with an equal volume of kerosene how much iodine would remain in the water?

If you then discard the kerosene layer and extracted with another equal volume of fresh kerosene how much iodine would be left in the water?

What total percent of the iodine was removed from the water?

Please help me with all three questions and if you can show me the work.! Thanks!

No. YOU do the work and show us what you did, and we will tell you if and where you went wrong with your reasoning and calculations.

Have you done this in a lab?

Yeah we did it in lab last week. But since I'm a visual learner its hard for me to do it the math way.. if that makes sense.

How does your teacher expect you to do this homework without your lab notes?

In the lab, did you pour 3 ml of kerosene into a test tube and add an equal volume of iodine-saturated water, stopper the tube and shake (1st extraction)?
