Quieting Water FLow Restriction
I have an open loop geothermal heat pump. Controlling the water flow is a Taco valve on the outlet side of the heat pump, where the ground water is returned to a discharge well. To regulate the flow through the heat exchanger, I use a ball valve (with a dial, for resetability). There's also PTs on each side of the heat exchanger, and I've installed permanent pressure gauges on each side of the heat exchanger.
Between the ball valve, and the pressure guages, and the tables from the manufacturer on the pressure differential at different flow rates and water temperature, I believe I can set the flow reasonably accurately.
The problem with all of this is that the ball valve, partially open, makes allot of noise.
Any ideas how I can lower the sound level?
