All I can remember about it was that it was a contemporary romance about a guy who finds out he is the son of some greek god, I think it was Posiden, when he is like kidnapped or something. He leaves behing a pregnant girl friend and does not return for like 7 years or something and tries to reconnect with them.

Call or visit your public library, reader's advisory librarian, who should be able to sniff out an answer for you. There are databases and books that give information about plots, characters, titles, authors, genres, etc. to help answer questions such as yours. I don't have those resources here at home. Please post again if the library can't help you (hard to believe they won't find the answer).

The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. The book has been made into a movie, just released Feb 12th.
